Riding your bike is supposed to be fun. Work hard, give your best effort, but always have fun.

Fat, out of shape, and disgusted with my loss of athletic competence, I bought a road bike to try to turn the tide. I rode regularly and after a couple of years saw much improvement. I began to follow pro cycling closely, and decided to take up racing. I read all I could about structured training and attempted to design my own program. My first racing season was nothing short of disastrous, getting dropped every time even though I thought I had trained hard and well. While venting my frustration to a cycling friend, he referred me to Coach Campo. I knew I had the right Coach when he told me, "Riding your bike is supposed to be fun. Work hard, give your best effort, but always have fun." Coach Campo has greatly improved my mindset and after following his program, which much improved the quality of my training and recovery, I finished top 10 in all of my target races (crits). I couldn't be happier with last season and I'm inspired to improve even more and, ultimately, to proudly stand on the podium. Thanks Coach Campo!

Steve's program takes the guess work out of training.

I swam in college and also coached swimming for seven years. When I started training for my first triathlon I thought it made sense to ride and run as much as possible. Three months later I injured myself from over training and it took me almost a year to recover. I was doubtful that I would ever have the motivation and drive to train for the sport at the level I wanted - then I met Steve! Steve's program appealed to me because it is tailored to each athlete and because I could get feedback throughout my training.

Steve's program takes the guess work out of training. I used to spend hours making a weekly training schedule which I then second guessed. It was such a waste of mental energy. With Steve's detailed training schedule I can focus on performing well during each workout rather than on how or what to train. The program has also kept me injury free. With distinct hard and maintenance days my body gets the recovery it needs to benefit from each workout and progress to the next level. My initial goal was to finish a sprint triathlon but now my goal is to make it to age group nationals.

With Steve's help, I've been able to drop a whole minute off my 20k TT, setting a personal best.

I've been working with Steve Campo for just about a year. I had worked with another coach the previous year, but saw no real improvement. However, in just this past year with Steve's help, I've been able to drop a whole minute off my 20k TT, setting a personal best. Although I've never really liked hills, with Steve's help, I'm finding that I'm stronger and don't mind hills as much. I like the fact that his plans are varied enough so they don't get boring and sometimes make me work harder than I think I can. During the winter, he had me strength training at home with only free weights and an exercise ball. That made it much easier for my hectic schedule than finding time to go to a gym. With Steve's help, I've got more confidence in my abilities and feel better prepared for each race. I can hardly wait for the State races!

Anything is possible! Thanks Steve

I signed up with Steve after hearing glowing reports about what an awesome coach he was. I knew I had talent as a triathlete, but didn't realize to what extent. I finished my first year racing as a triathlete with a 2nd place in my age group at the world triathlon champs in Hawaii - couldn't have done that on my own!

I thought that if I trained with my heart rate as high as I could keep it I would get better - Steve's approach is just a little different. I had to slow down to speed up - its all about being recovered enough to put in the hard efforts on those effort days in order to get results. Having a coach who knows when to push me and believes in me has taken me to a racing level I didn't know I had.

When I met Steve I didn't know what a crit was, or much less want to even try one - I was a triathlete and the thought of riding with a bunch of people all around was a little scary. Now I love them and I finished 3rd at the state crit champs earlier this year.

Anything is possible! Thanks Steve

During the first race of the season, I stayed with the pack; something that I couldn't do before.

I've seen a very big improvement in my early season performance which I attribute to the off-season strength training Steve prescribed. Strength training usually involves going to gym or buying expensive equipment. His equipment needs were an exercise ball and a couple of hand weights. I could tell that I was developing much more core and leg strength after just a couple of weeks. During the first race of the season, I stayed with the pack; something that I couldn't do before.

Steve's training plans are well thought out and are suited to my specific needs. Increasing and decreasing training stress so my body doesn't fall into a defined pattern, and maintaining my interest has helped me advance.

I like the fact that the training exercises are specific, but not so detailed and complicated that I have to carry along a copy of the description to perform it.

Steve develops a program that fits ME and my life.

Working with coach Campo for the last several years I have realized that there are several other coaches available to "write me a program". But coach Campo takes a greater all around approach. He understands my time constraints and family responsibilities and develops a program that fits ME and my life. Unlike most internet based coaches coach Campo does not just drop me into a canned computer program and spit out a general program. He coaches the WHOLE athlete physically, and psychologically.

An undying desire to be the very best.

I was a weekend warrior with no great dreams of becoming a pro or standing on a podium. I just loved working-out outside and loved cycling and running. And I entered races for the schwag & T-shirts alone. One day I was hit by a car training for an event and vowed to never get on my bike again & I never wanted to see a cool race T-shirt again as long as I lived. Until I came across Synergy Coaching.

Coach Campo has given me the bike skills & confidence that I lacked allowing me to continue training with a whole new philosophy and an undying desire to be the very best.

Anything is possible with Synergy Coaching.

Thanks Coach Campo!

I will continue training with Steve in my corner!

Before Synergy Coaching, I was training for a century run without knowing about my proper nutritional needs. Well, after a 19-mile run I bonked and was extremely dehydrated. I wasn't going to give up my passion for running. I learned of Synergy Coaching at my physical therapy appointment. Coach Campo came highly recommended from both my physical therapist and my registered kinesiotherapist. There were several people there who knew of him. After doing my own research on Synergy Coaching and realizing Steve is one of the FEW coaches who have an ELITE USAC license and LEVEL 1 USAT License, I knew that he was one of the original coaches.

Needless to say, I finished my race & I finished strong & placed 2nd in my age group.

I will continue training with Steve in my corner!

Thanks Coach!

I thought for sure that he was too experienced for me, and I was a little intimidated to say the least. But I reconsidered. . .

All I wanted to accomplish was to keep up with my boyfriend and his friends on my new mountain bike and road bike without killing myself.

I knew nothing about riding a bike considering my last bike was a 1975 Schwinn and I was in 4th grade.

After reviewing Coach Campo's resume, I thought for sure that he was too experienced for me, and I was a little intimidated to say the least. But I reconsidered, realizing that I preferred an experienced Coach over someone who had no idea what they were doing. In my eyes it was all about safety.

What an experience I've had with Synergy Coaching, not only am I able to keep up with my boyfriend and his friends, I actually have entered some races and done pretty well. Coach Campo was so unassuming and patient with me. I learned so much and I feel quite confident on my bikes.

Thanks again Coach Campo!
